Comedian Im Ha-ryong candidly confessed how his approach to relationships has changed as he sorted them out.
On the 5th, the YouTube channel "Knowledge Inside" released a video titled "Why the celebrity with the highest attendance at events no longer clings to relationships."
In the video, Im Ha-ryong said the secret to maintaining relationships for a long time is "having lunch gatherings instead of dinners." He explained, "When you have a drink, things you have inside can come out and ruin relationships. Lunch doesn't carry that burden."
But he also opened up about why he doesn't stay close with everyone these days. Im Ha-ryong said, "I've become a bit tougher lately. I used to answer every call, but now it seems a time has come to cut back a little," and added, "People say I've changed. Sometimes I don't pick up the phone or I hang up to the point it upsets people. Honestly, it's hard for me too," he said candidly.
He continued, "You have to endure that, but my energy is lacking so it's hard. If the vibe doesn't match or a situation requires staying together a long time and becomes overwhelming, I cut it off. As you get older, disconnection happens naturally."
He also said, "There are people who see that and say I've changed. I used to worry about that, but now I don't care. I'm just too exhausted," and added, "Especially people with bad drinking habits — I used to take care of them until the end, but now I just leave them be. I used to wonder why they acted that way, but now I understand. I'm tired first and don't want the friction."
Im Ha-ryong said, "Now I'm at an age where even managing my own body is burdensome, and I feel that 'Im Ha-ryong has become bold,'" and added, "At first I worried about changing like that, but the people who truly know me understand."
Finally, he said, "The reason I attend many events is because it puts my mind at ease. If I don't go, I actually feel uncomfortable," and added, "These days I think I've become a bit more cold-headed in those respects."
