"Jo Yong-pil, forever this moment - record of that day" Jo Yong-pil revealed his devotion to music.
On the 8th broadcast, KBS 2TV special documentary "Jo Yong-pil, forever this moment - record of that day" portrayed behind-the-scenes of Jo Yong-pil's solo concert.
On Sept. 6, Jo Yong-pil filled 150 minutes with his own songs on a KBS solo stage for the first time in 28 years since the 1997 "Big Show." Asked why he decided to appear on broadcast after 28 years, Jo Yong-pil said, "If I get older and my voice doesn't come out well, will people in the audience say, 'That person should probably stop'" and added, "I've never thought about giving up. I just think music is everything to me."
Above all, he said, "(My last KBS appearance) was in 1997. If I don't appear now, there won't be many chances to meet you. Also, my voice will probably get worse going forward. So I thought, 'I should do it quickly.' So I decided. To be honest," which drew attention.
Meanwhile, the video also revealed stories of fans who were healed and comforted by Jo Yong-pil's songs. Jo Yong-pil said of the fans, "I'm grateful. That you still remember and call on me, and that you like my music—that is moving, and I'm thankful and it's a great reward for me."
On the long-awaited day of the performance, Jo Yong-pil vowed before the show, "Before a performance I only have the thought that I must do well. So that I can show on stage all the music we've done until now."
After finishing the first song "Unknown World," Jo Young-pil said, "Today's concert title is 'forever this moment.' Like that phrase, I hope this moment shared with you will be remembered for a long time. Thank you," which moved the audience.
Junior singers who watched Jo Yong-pil's solo concert also shared their impressions. First, Kim Jong-seo expressed respect, saying, "It was truly a powerful performance. Truly the best performance. I think Jo Yong-pil hyung's contribution to where I am today is enormous. He constantly gives guidance. He gave guidance today as well."
Paul Kim said, "People from my mother's generation came with their children. Younger friends than me were all watching this concert and smiling so happily. I witnessed the moment when I realized there is a singer who can make people of various ages happy. That's the role of music."
Cho Hyun-ah, who came to the venue with her father, said, "I thought Jo Yong-pil senior's stage was almost the correct answer for a performance where you can fully enjoy it without distinguishing between the band and the frontman. I want to say thank you for becoming our destination."
Meanwhile, Jo Yong-pil said, "I want to keep doing it. Until 80, or maybe beyond or before—I don't know," and added his love for music, saying, "How happy would it be if I died singing."
