In fact, Jo Young-gu's "large loss story" is not the first time. When he appeared on the YouTube channel Gura-cheol in 2023, he shocked listeners by confessing, "I put 1.5 billion won into stocks, and only 350 million won remained." At the time, when Kim Gu-ra asked, "So how much did you lose in total?" Jo Young-gu replied, "About 1.75 billion won exactly. I didn't lose it all at once; I kept averaging down while trading stocks. In the end I put in 2.5 billion won, and now only about 700 million won remains."
He recalled, "I thought blue-chip stocks would be safe, so I even cashed in insurance maturity money and put it in, but that didn't work either. I put in 20 million won on my first investment and made 10 million won in just two weeks, and I became crazy about stocks. That was the wrong first button in my life."
But now, two years later, the situation has worsened. The amount that was said to be a 1.7 billion won loss at the time has now been revealed to total 5.6 billion won when combining money lent to acquaintances and stock losses. Moreover, he recently confessed that his health has deteriorated, suffering from a cervical disc and a torn anterior cruciate ligament, leaving him in severe pain.
