Koyote member Baekga once again became the center of attention after honestly sharing his feelings about marriage, from the controversial video of Shinji and Moonwon's formal meeting.
On the recent SBS entertainment program "My Ugly Duckling," it was revealed that Shinji appears on the show and is set to marry next year but has not yet had a formal meeting, drawing attention. Shinji candidly discussed her feelings after announcing the marriage and her relationship with her fiancé Moonwon. At the time, the video of the formal meeting with Koyote members became a hot topic and even sparked controversy among some internet users. Shinji said, "I was embarrassed because many stories surfaced after the marriage announcement. We had been dating for more than two years, so there was no problem," saying she has been getting along without any particular conflict so far.
Shinji also showed affection about the age difference with her fiancé, saying, "When I was a college freshman, my future husband was a sixth grader in elementary school, and I never expected to meet someone younger. I disliked younger men, but this person was different." She then mentioned meeting her future mother-in-law, saying, "She said she was thankful and sorry. I was moved when she thanked me for loving her son."
Earlier, Shinji made a big splash when she announced her marriage to Moonwon, a singer seven years younger. Later, when she revealed the formal meeting with Koyote members, Moonwon's disclosure that he was divorced and his attitude toward the members continued the controversy, and malicious rumors spread among some internet users.
Regarding this, on the Aug. 8 broadcast of MBC's "Radio Star," Koyote member Baekga explained his actions in the video and opened up about his honest feelings. Baekga said about the situation, "I went to the bathroom because I hadn't processed my emotions, and my friends asked, 'Aren't you going to the bathroom?' From then on, it's been uncomfortable every time I go to the bathroom." Yoo Se-yoon said, "Your heart was surprised and your body was surprised too, I guess," showing understanding for Baekga's feelings.
Then two months later, on Oct. 4, Baekga once again expressed his distress about Shinji's marriage. In a YouTube SPNS TV shorts video, he said, "People told Shinji 'don't do it,' but Shinji was already married. But responses like 'we'll see what happens to you' were so upsetting," expressing his pain. He added, "If Shinji announced her marriage, there should be blessings and support. There should be good energy so Shinji can express her thanks, but some reactions were the opposite, so it hurts."
Baekga pleaded, "I hope at least those reading this will bless and support Shinji. Her life does not harm your life. I hope you will support her," leaving a sincere message, and the video drew renewed attention, becoming a topic hot enough to rank on a major portal site's rankings.
Internet user reactions are also heated. Some wrote, "Marriage is the choice of the parties involved; I don't understand why others pry so much," "I understand Baekga's feelings; I sincerely bless Shinji and Moonwon," and "Was the attitude controversy in the video actually because they were worried about Shinji?"—among various messages of support.
Meanwhile, Shinji and Moonwon's wedding is scheduled for the first half of next year, and the two are reportedly preparing quietly and officially.
