While revealing behind-the-scenes stories about the Crime Scene he appears in, he also showed interest in directing variety shows, drawing attention. He also named the biggest attention seeker among Seoul Institute of the Arts alumni, bringing laughter, and even rare footage such as his cameo in the sitcom Sunpung Obstetrics and Gynecology is fully dug up, raising expectations.
MBC's Radio Star, airing Wednesday night on the 8th (produced by Kang Young-sun / directed by Hwang Yoon-sang, Byun Da-hee), is staged as a Chuseok special called "Everything's back to life" featuring Jang Jin, Kim Ji-hoon, Kim Kyung-ran and Choi Ye-na.
Jang Jin is active as a regular player in the mystery variety series Crime Scene. His unique approach of reconstructing incidents from the perspectives of a cast member and creator is seen as enhancing the program's completeness. While deducing the culprit each episode, he combines theatrical composition and character immersion, saying it is "interesting as a director and challenging as a cast member."
He vividly revealed the reality of Crime Scene's filming, saying, "It takes 20 hours to shoot one episode," and added, "Instead of rehearsals, there is the tension that a set with living characters and space provides... I go to the studio with the feeling of going to an amusement park. Crime Scene's filming is my source of vitality," eliciting laughter. He also conveyed the on-site atmosphere vividly, recounting that "the set was on the scale of an actual Han River bridge," expressing surprise at the scale of the production budget.
He, who has produced numerous hits across film and theater stages, also showed interest in directing variety shows and is expected to bring laughs by asking the Crime Scene production team to use him as a writer at least once.
Jang Jin recalled his ties with Seoul Institute of the Arts alumni Im Won-hee, Jung Jae-young, Ryu Seung-ryong, Shin Dong-yup and Shin Ha-kyun, saying with his trademark banter, "I have lived off my university network until now," turning the studio into a sea of laughter. He particularly piqued curiosity by naming who among them was the biggest "attention seeker" at the time and sharing related anecdotes.
The show will also reveal Jang Jin's "rare variety show materials." When footage of his cameo appearance on the 1998 sitcom Sunpung Obstetrics and Gynecology was surprisingly summoned, he burst into an embarrassed laugh, saying, "I didn't know that scene still existed." After his catchphrase from the Sunpung Obstetrics and Gynecology footage was revealed, everyone reportedly laughed out loud.
