On 'Donmakase,' Shim Hyung-tak revealed his love story with his wife Saya.
On the 6th, the MBN variety Chuseok special 'Donmakase' premiered, with MC Hong Seok-cheon, chef Lee Won-il, and Shim Hyung-tak appearing as guests.
That day Hong Seok-cheon said, "I heard Hyung-tak had a happy event. He became a father. He said he's happy every day and made such a fuss," and offered congratulations to Shim Hyung-tak, who had a son in January. Shim Hyung-tak said, "Our daily smiles are the talk of the town. I see that sight every day. I'm happy," showing his doting father side.
Meanwhile, Shim Hyung-tak also spoke about his first meeting with his Japanese wife Saya. When Hong Seok-cheon asked, "How did you meet your wife?", Shim Hyung-tak recalled the beginning of their relationship, saying, "I went to shoot at the Doraemon Museum, and the next day I first met my wife at a Gundam cafe." He said, "At first my wife simply thought I was a celebrity who came for a shoot and treated me strictly as a guide. Later, I came to Japan often to express my feelings, but I failed in confessing twice," sharing the love story.
He said, "Still, I didn't give up. I continued an unrequited love for almost eight months," and added, "Then one day, feeling desperate, I went to see her casually, and the drinking went on to a third round. The two of us got very drunk and walked under the Tokyo lights, and I eventually put her in a taxi and sent her off," recalling the time. When Hong Seok-cheon joked, "You should have at least kissed her before sending her off," Shim Hyung-tak said, "I didn't want to do anything before getting permission. But after seeing her like that, I felt trust," and added, "After that, when I invited her to Korea she readily came, and that day she agreed to date me," drawing attention.
Meanwhile, 'Donmakase' is a new-concept talk show where broadcaster Hong Seok-cheon and chef Lee Won-il prepare a full pork course and draw out guests' hidden life stories.
Shim Hyung-tak registered his marriage in 2022 to Saya, a Japanese woman 18 years his junior, and held wedding ceremonies in Korea and Japan in 2023. He welcomed his first son, Haru, in January this year, and his family's YouTube channel now has surpassed 140,000 subscribers and is receiving much love.<
