Group BTS RM expressed his views on marriage and childbirth.
On the 5th RM conducted a live broadcast through the fan community platform Weverse.
That day RM said he had gone to the company during the Chuseok holiday to work on songs and continued communicating with fans. While talking RM said, "I am already thirty-two," and opened up, "If I meet the right timing and the right person I might get married, or I might live alone like this. I don't think there is a right answer."
He added, "These days there's pressure around marriage and practical aspects. Especially women seem to face pressure from society and the media over children and various issues, but I just hope people live as they want," sharing his candid thoughts.
RM said, "I don't think there is a right answer. In my view if someone really can't stand being alone, would marriage really make that better?" and added, "Because after marriage you might still want to be alone, people are fickle. Someone who can be fine alone can probably be fine when with someone, and the opposite is also true. Choosing marriage as a solution or escape because I'm lonely is a bit..."
He also addressed the issue of children: "Raising myself is already overwhelming, and I can't decide to bring a new life into the world as I please. Thinking about how much trouble I caused my parents when I was young, what if a kid like me is born? Ugh, how hateful would that be," and he said, "They could be lovable, but there is no right answer. Married people can only speak from the married person's perspective, and unmarried people from the unmarried person's... they don't know each other."
RM also said, "In Korea I think people born in the 1990s are the first generation for whom marriage became optional. I think people should just follow their own choice."
