Comedian Kim Sook candidly revealed that she failed to quit smoking.
On the Netflix variety show Do Driver: In Search of the Lost Steering Wheel, which was released on the 5th, an episode titled "The villains' confession" was featured. That day the cast members appeared in makeup fitting the villain concept, and the production team asked, "Have you ever done something bad in your life?" They then said, "You are exiled sinners. Let's take time to reflect," and had them read aloud each other's letters of repentance.
In this process, Hong Jin Kyung wrote Kim Sook's letter of repentance for her, and Kim Sook read the writing herself. Kim Sook confessed, "Today I will tell you a story I have been hiding. Some of you may have already noticed, but I still haven't quit smoking."
She went on to say, "Every time on the show they say 'Sook is no smoking,' I felt pangs of conscience. I wanted to tell the truth, but I couldn't bring myself to do it," and burst into laughter. Kim Sook said, "On days when the recording goes well and I'm not stressed, I smoke about three cigarettes after a meal. When I exhale cigarette smoke, it feels like all my worries disappear," and pledged, "Now I'll really cut it down to three cigarettes a day."
Meanwhile, her close friend, actress Choi Kang-hee, has successfully quit smoking. Earlier in August, on a video released on the YouTube channel VIVO TV, when Song Eun-i and Kim Sook mentioned Choi Kang-hee's diet updates, Choi Kang-hee laughed, "I don't know how that happened either." Later, when Song Eun-i asked, "You don't smoke these days, right?" Choi Kang-hee quietly nodded, indicating she is not smoking.
Kim Sook said, "It's already been more than 20 years since I quit smoking. I've spent far more time not smoking than smoking," and added, "I don't even think about it anymore. I only joke that when I'm about 70 I might try a cigar," but on this broadcast she confessed that those words were not true, drawing laughter.
