MBC variety show 'Hangout with Yoo?' Chuseok special spin-off 'What are you doing, hyung?' (directed by Kim Jin-yong, Lee Joo-won, Ahn Ji-seon, Bang Seong-su/writer No Min-seon) will air in a two-episode broadcast on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 10 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 9 at 8:10 p.m. 'What are you doing, hyung?' depicts the self-directed 1-night, 2-day road trip of three terribly mismatched men — Haha, Joo Woo-jae and Lee Yi-kyung — and promises laughter and healing over the Chuseok holiday.
In episode 1, Lee Yi-kyung excitedly shows enthusiasm by finding accommodation in advance for his first 1-night, 2-day trip with his older brothers. Then Haha and Joo Woo-jae are flustered by Lee Yi-kyung's unagreed-upon bombshell remark. He suggests sleeping together in one bed with Joo Woo-jae in the middle. Horrified, Haha and Joo Woo-jae react strongly and propose a contest to decide the sleeping arrangement.
The three men fiercely compete in a basketball free-throw contest to decide how they will sleep. United in preventing sharing a bed, Haha and Joo Woo-jae team up while Lee Yi-kyung struggles alone dreaming of sleeping together. Viewers are focused on whether Lee Yi-kyung's wish to 'sleep in one bed' was fulfilled amid the brothers' interference and on the outcome of the contest that put Haha and Joo Woo-jae on edge.
Meanwhile, Haha and Joo Woo-jae show affection while bickering all day without getting tired. Haha dotes on 'grumpy 40-year-old' Joo Woo-jae like a first son Dream, cooing and finding him cute, and Joo Woo-jae's every reaction draws laughter. Eventually, Joo Woo-jae, driven wild by Haha, becomes a roe deer sprinting down Maisan, arousing curiosity about what actually happened.
The sight of Lee Yi-kyung easily carrying a paper-doll-like Joo Woo-jae on his back evokes warmth. Joo Woo-jae jokes, "People misunderstand. They think I weigh 50kg," and Lee Yi-kyung replies, "It doesn't feel like carrying a man," drawing laughter. How Joo Woo-jae came to be on Lee Yi-kyung's back and the sweet camaraderie of the three men attract interest.
