(Continued from interview ①) Actor Hwang Seong-bin shared his impressions of performing bold nude scenes in the Netflix series Aema and the strong chemistry he had with actress Bang Hyo-rin.
Recently, an interview with actor Hwang Seong-bin was held at the OSEN office in Hapjeong-dong, Mapo District, Seoul.
Hwang Seong-bin recently appeared in the film "The Mantis: Original Sin" released on Netflix, the series Aema, and the SBS drama The Winning Try, among others, granting non-stop acting performances.
In particular, Hwang Seong-bin played the role of Shin Sang-yeop, a former professional boxer turned rookie actor in the story, and performed not only bed scenes with co-star Bang Hyo-rin but also shocking nude scenes.
To that, Hwang Seong-bin said, "I read all the comments. Actually, until Aema was released, I worried a lot. 'Won't my nudity be uncomfortable?', 'Won't my nudity cause discomfort to viewers?' I was extremely worried, but the work itself is such a good piece. I looked up the reactions and found them entertaining. I'm not the type to get deeply hurt. I'm grateful people are watching it even like this," he joked, drawing laughter.
He also said he prepared his body thoroughly ahead of the nude scenes. Hwang Seong-bin said, "From the audition, the director demanded body conditioning. I had some build at the time, but the director asked, 'Can you build your body more? Lose fat but increase muscle size?' It was a very difficult request, so I worked hard," he laughed.
He continued, "I ate more than five meals a day. I trained hard at the level bodybuilders shape their bodies," adding, "Although I felt some regret after seeing the work, I was rather satisfied. Performing while exposed means if I'm not proud of my body, I'd be too embarrassed to act. So I exercised more. To be precise, I think I built my body for about three to four months."
He also drew great strength from his partner Bang Hyo-rin. Hwang Seong-bin said, "Bang Hyo-rin and I always became close and held hands before each shoot, saying, 'Let's do our best today, fighting!' We encouraged each other and started filming. Both she and I had nude scenes, so we relied on each other a lot; there was no embarrassment, and we filmed without as much difficulty as expected. I was actually more embarrassed when I was nude alone," he confessed, attracting attention.
