KBS2 'The boss's ears are donkey ears' host Jun Hyun-moo becomes engrossed in the Korean card game ddakji at a Turkish home.
KBS 2TV 'The boss's ears are donkey ears' (directed by Ahn Sang-eun/hereafter 'Sadang-gwi') is a program where Korean bosses voluntarily practice role reversal and self-reflection to create workplaces that make work enjoyable, and it recorded a peak viewership rating of 6.3% in the last episode, continuing 168 consecutive weeks as the No. 1 show in its time slot for variety programs. In episode 326 of 'Sadang-gwi,' airing today (5th), former KBS announcer Oh Jung-yeon joins as a special MC while Jun Hyun-moo, Eom Ji-in, Jung Ho-young and Heo Yoo-won visit the Istanbul Sejong Institute, where they teach Korean. The Sejong Institute, an organization that promotes the Korean language and culture, systematically teaches Korean to foreigners who want to learn the language worldwide, and there are 252 institutes in 87 countries. Among them, they visit the home of Sejong Institute student grandmother Wemitt and experience firsthand the status of K-play—from ddakji to dalgona—that has recently become a hot topic in Türkiye.
Invited by grandmother Wemitt, who loves Korean so much she can recite the Hunminjeongeum Haerye by heart, Jun Hyun-moo raises his thumb and says, "This is the best other person's house I've been to in the past 10 years." Everyone is surprised by the magnificent landscaping and scale of the house, where three generations from grandparents to grandchildren live together. But what was more surprising than the size of the house was that the whole family was immersed in Korean culture.
When Jun Hyun-moo and Eom Ji-in take ddakji out of a gift box, 8-year-old grandson Mustafa exclaims, "I know this. Squid Game," and then unexpectedly shows skilled ddakji playing ability that astonishes Jun Hyun-moo. Mustafa then laughs and offers an apologetic excuse, saying, "I saw it on shorts."
After ddakji, Mustafa picks up the game of gonggi and amazes everyone with his performance. He also holds dalgona in his hand and automatically sings "ringaringa ringa" while wearing a proud smile that impresses everyone. He even clearly sings "round and round" in Korean, surprising Jun Hyun-moo. Jun Hyun-moo repeatedly expresses disbelief, saying, "This is how powerful content is."
Watching this, Park Myung-soo concedes, "If children know this much, it means people in Türkiye all know it," and Kim Sook says, "I'm so proud. I can't believe they know all of this," feeling the heated wave of Korean culture.
Then, at the Turkish home, a spontaneous ddakji match unfolds between grandmother, grandson and Jun Hyun-moo. The broadcast of 'Sadang-gwi' will reveal who the unexpected skilled player was and the vivid scene of Türkiye's lively K-play culture.
Meanwhile, KBS 2TV 'The boss's ears are donkey ears' airs every Sunday at 4:40 p.m.<
