Mr. House Husband delivered unpredictable fun with the stories of Park Seojin and Park Young-gyu's families.
On the Oct. 4 broadcast of KBS 2TV's Mr. House Husband Season 2 (hereinafter Mr. House Husband), the second part of Park Seojin family's chaotic Hong Kong trip and an episode of the Park Young-gyu couple meeting 'the entertainment industry's representative loving couple' Joo Young-hoon and Lee Yoon-mi were revealed. The broadcast recorded a national rating of 3.8 percent according to Nielsen Korea, and on the second day of the Hong Kong trip, the Park Seojin family, trapped in their hotel by the effects of Typhoon No. 8, achieved a peak rating of 4.8 percent.
The broadcast began with abundant Chuseok greetings from the opening. Special guests included girl group izna's (izna) Bang Ji-min and Coco, who brightened the studio. In particular, MC Eun Ji-won, who is getting married this month, said, "This Chuseok looks like it will be busy," and when asked what he wanted to wish on the full moon, he said, "I pray that the bride will definitely come to the wedding hall," prompting bursts of laughter from the cast.
In the VCR that followed, Park Seojin family's first overseas trip to Hong Kong unfolded. The family boarded the plane full of expectation and each enjoyed the excitement with eager expressions. The mother said, "I really wanted to visit Hong Kong and our Seojin made my wish come true," with tears of joy, and the father also showed affection, saying, "It's fun to travel with family. I even kissed Seojin's mother and felt good."
But the excitement was short-lived, and Park Seojin soon began to feel anxious. As the moment to order drinks and the in-flight meal from a foreign flight attendant approached, he became nervous. He quickly took out an English book and seemed ready to use the English skills he had honed for three years, but when the situation actually arrived his confidence plummeted. Unable to speak, Park Seojin nervously watched until his younger sister Hyo-jung stepped in and smoothly placed the order, leaving him overwhelmed and causing laughter. Embarrassed, Park Seojin couldn't put the English book down for the entire flight and immersed himself in studying.
However, the ordeal was only beginning. As soon as they arrived at Hong Kong airport, Typhoon No. 8 struck, causing an unprecedented situation in which the road to the hotel was cut off. The situation became so serious that the production team even stopped filming, and Park Seojin said, "I felt so sorry because my family came all this way because of me. I was really at a loss," expressing panic and self-blame that elicited sympathy.
After the rain briefly eased, the Park Seojin family moved to their accommodation. But exhausted from the night flight and the typhoon, the family complained, "We shouldn't have come. We should have gone to Ulleungdo. We came here and can't even sightsee, we'll just stay still and leave," which made Park Seojin feel hurt. Due to continued bad weather the next day, the family was forced to enjoy a hotel staycation while trapped in their lodging, and Park Seojin struggled through the rain to reorganize the plans.
Fortunately, as the typhoon gradually subsided and the weather cleared, Park Seojin took out the family uniforms he had prepared to shift the mood. After escaping the hotel 12 hours later, the family, in high spirits, boarded the ferry to Macau. The mother said, "This is great. I would have really regretted not coming," expressing satisfaction, and laughter blossomed during the family dinner on the boat. Park Seojin also couldn't hide his warm smile as he watched his happy family.
But the joy was brief. With another typhoon approaching and a fierce marital fight between the parents looming, the trip suddenly turned tense. Questions remain about whether Park Seojin family's trip will continue safely.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the 'entertainment industry's representative thief husbands' also followed. The couple Park Young-gyu and Lee Yoon-joo, who have a 25-year age gap, spent a pleasant time with the couple Joo Young-hoon and Lee Yoon-mi, who have a 12-year age difference. Hearing Joo Young-hoon's story that he was even called a 'thief' at the time of marriage because of the large age gap, Park Young-gyu said, "If I had married then, it would have been a huge commotion," and Joo Young-hoon replied, "Then you would have had to be forced to take a break from broadcasting for a while," filling the scene with laughter.
On the broadcast, Park Young-gyu's wife candidly revealed that unlike the family-oriented Joo Young-hoon, her husband is far from household chores. She said, "Because there's a big age gap, people misunderstand that my husband will dote on me, but that's not the case at all," and when Joo Young-hoon said, "There is no distinction between men and women in household duties; whoever wants to do it does it," Park Young-gyu's wife applauded and strongly agreed.
Cornered, Park Young-gyu summoned Joo Young-hoon, saying, "You, come out here!" to raise the tension, but it turned out he actually wanted to ask for a song, producing a twist that made people laugh. Park Young-gyu said sincerely, "In the latter half of my life, as I head toward the end, I want to leave a masterpiece like 'My Way'," drawing attention.
Later, at the four's dinner table, the story of why the Park Young-gyu couple never went on a honeymoon and the secret of a safe that Park Young-gyu had never revealed to anyone came up. When Lee Yoon-mi and Joo Young-hoon pressed, "What's in the safe?", Park Young-gyu made a bombshell confession, "My history of three previous marriages is in the safe," turning the scene into a sea of laughter.
Then the topic moved to honeymoons and rapid-fire questions followed, such as "Have you ever gone on a honeymoon?" and "Which honeymoon you went on was the best?", leaving Park Young-gyu extremely flustered. In the end, seemingly resigned, he made the number '3' with his fingers to answer, causing everyone to burst into laughter. But Park Young-gyu's wife, instead of feeling hurt, surprised everyone with a cool response, "Then where would you like to go with me?" Park Young-gyu confided, "I planned to go after finishing the drama, but I missed the timing for the honeymoon. I thought this person must have held that in and couldn't say it," revealing his feelings.
Park Young-gyu's wife offered a touching aphorism: "Let's travel a lot. You shouldn't travel when your legs are shaking. You should travel when your heart is trembling." After Joo Young-hoon and Lee Yoon-mi left, Park Young-gyu transformed into a 'domestic husband' mode, doing the dishes and bringing facial packs, moving his wife.
This broadcast conveyed deep family love through Park Seojin's filial devotion in preparing the trip and a family's ability to overcome crisis with smiles even amid the typhoon. Also, the Park Young-gyu couple, who met Joo Young-hoon and Lee Yoon-mi, showed affection for each other amid bickering, delivering both laughter and warmth.
