Singer and actress Nam Gyu-ri took on making songpyeon to celebrate Chuseok.
On the 5th Nam Gyu-ri uploaded a video titled Ep.15 Chuseok special: sweet and deadly songpyeon making operation(?) | Have a happy Chuseok to her YouTube channel "Gyulmung."
In this video Nam Gyu-ri, dressed beautifully in hanbok, said, "I hope you spend happy times with your families for Chuseok, and thanks to my subscribers I feel a lot of happiness and joy. I hope you receive as much love as you give me, and have a joyful and bountiful Hangawi," and then bowed deeply to her subscribers.
Earlier, having promised to serve food she cooked herself to subscribers, Nam Gyu-ri, who had announced the opening of "Gyul Restaurant," again teamed up with chef Park Jun-young to make songpyeon. They prepared a variety of fillings from mugwort, sweet potato, pumpkin and rice flour doughs to red bean paste, sesame, nuts, hotteok mix and minced shrimp, making mouths water from the start.
Nam Gyu-ri said, "I haven't made songpyeon since elementary school," and struggled. Even as dough split and fillings spilled, she clenched her fist tightly as her older sister taught her and managed to fix it.
The songpyeon Nam Gyu-ri completed with her little fist(?) drew laughs with its unique shape that looked like a whale, and chef Park Jun-young could not hide his surprise, saying, "I've never seen songpyeon like this in my life."
When the two tasted them, they burst into laughter at the unexpected flavor, and Nam Gyu-ri laughed until she finally shed tears.
Chef Park Jun-young especially said the hotteok filling "kicks" and strongly recommended it.
After finishing making songpyeon, Nam Gyu-ri closed by saying, "This Chuseok I hope you spend happy times with your families and have a bountiful holiday."
Meanwhile, Nam Gyu-ri's YouTube channel, which she launched in June, surpassed 30,000 subscribers, and she is preparing to open the "Gyul Restaurant," a 10,000-subscriber pledge. She plans to invite subscribers in person and serve dishes she made.<
