Kim Eun-sook's new work, "Genie, Make A Wish," debuted at No. 5 on Netflix's global list.
According to OTT content ranking site FlixPatrol, "Genie, Make A Wish" was ranked 5th (307 points) in the global top 10 for Netflix TV shows as of the 4th.
Earlier, released to about 190 countries via Netflix on the 3rd, "Genie, Make A Wish" is a stress-free fantasy romantic comedy about Genie (played by Kim Woo-bin), a lamp spirit whose career was interrupted and who awoke after about a thousand years, meeting emotionless human Ga-young (played by Suzy) and engaging in three wishes. As Kim Eun-sook's new work following The Glory and a reunion project for Hallyu stars Suzy and Kim Woo-bin, it was one of the most anticipated releases of the second half of the year, drawing enormous attention from the production stage.
It took first place in "Today's TOP 10 series in Korea" a day after release, but it entered the global ranking at No. 5 once full counting began, falling short of a top-tier rank. Also, it reached No. 1 only in Peru and the Dominican Republic as well as Korea, leaving its initial performance somewhat disappointing.
Currently, among the top 10, Korean works include No. 5 "Genie, Make A Wish" and tvN's "Bon Appetit, Your Majesty," which concluded last week and attracted attention by ranking 8th and recording long-running popularity.
