Comedian Ahn Young-mi candidly opened up about life as a "goose couple" with her husband who works in the United States.
On the 5th, in the YouTube web variety show "Jo Dongari," Ahn Young-mi had an honest conversation with senior comedians Kim Yong-man, Ji Seok-jin and Kim Su-yong. That day she confessed without reservation about the realistic worries after marriage and the difficulties of a long-distance marriage.
Ahn Young-mi said, "As soon as we registered our marriage, my husband went to the United States for work. But at that time COVID-19 broke out," and added, "We were newlyweds but it didn't feel like it. I was alone for nine months. It was very hard."
She continued, "I really like being the center of attention and I want to be loved, so I thought I would be with my husband all day long," and added, "But since that wasn't possible, I let go of the fantasy about marriage."
Currently Ahn Young-mi is active as a radio host, and her husband is still working in the United States. She said, "My husband comes to Korea once every three to four months to see me and then goes back," and showed a positive side by saying, "Now I'm gradually finding joy in both broadcasting and parenting."
Ahn Young-mi married the man she met through radio in 2019 and last year she welcomed a healthy son. She continues a challenging daily life as a long-distance spouse and a working mom, but she is holding on with her characteristic bright energy.
Internet users commented messages of support such as, "It's really admirable that she is raising a child alone while working," "Life as a goose couple must not be easy, we support you," and "Your always positive side is wonderful."<
