Singer Yebit reinterprets an unreleased song by the late Yoo Jae-ha.
Yebit will release "Star-like your gaze (From A Hundred Memories)" at 6 p.m. on the 5th.
"Star-like your gaze" is an unreleased song by the late Yoo Jae-ha that was created in 1982 but never officially released. The song, which remained only on cassette tapes for more than 40 years with records showing it was sung only once on a radio program during his lifetime, was officially released last year with the late Yoo Jae-ha's voice and then reborn as an insert song for A Hundred Memories.
Through A Hundred Memories, Yebit newly reinterprets "Star-like your gaze" and offers deep emotion. The song, which captures a narrative that touches 1982, a year that also serves as the drama's setting, portrays the drama's mood more naturally and deeply.
This remake was arranged to blend the plain sensibility of folk with classical colors by centering on piano and acoustic guitar and adding a string quartet. Yebit's clear, lyrical vocals intersect with the restored breath of the late Yoo Jae-ha, leaving a lingering feeling as if connecting the past and the present.
Yebit sings the moments in which love and longing are most purely blended, delicately expressing the emotion of the original while adding her own sensibility to give it a fresh charm. Attention is focused on what kind of resonance the reborn "Star-like your gaze," enhanced by Yebit's individuality, will deliver.
The drama A Hundred Memories is a newtro youth melodrama set in the 1980s that depicts the shining friendship of bus No. 100 attendant Yeong-rye (Kim Da-mi) and Jong-hee (Shin Ye Eun), and the poignant first love story of Jaepil (Heo Nam-jun) who is involved with the two.
Meanwhile, "Star-like your gaze (From A Hundred Memories)", which features Yebit, can be listened to on various online music sites from 6 p.m. on the 5th.
