Comedian Ahn Young-mi confessed the hardships of a long-distance marriage with her husband, who works in the United States.
On the morning of the 5th, Ahn Young-mi appeared as a guest on the web variety show "Jo Dongari," which was released on YouTube. That day, Ahn Young-mi opened her heart in conversation at the invitation of comedian seniors Kim Yong-man, Ji Seok-jin and Kim Su-yong.
In particular, regarding her life after marriage she said "I wanted to meet my lifelong best friend to share sweet moments and be together for a long time. But the timing was really awkward: right after we registered our marriage, (my husband) got a job in the U.S. and went to America, and as soon as he left, COVID-19 broke out," she said.
She said, "We had registered our marriage, found a newlywed home and everyone knew I was married, but I was alone. I spent nine months like that," and added, "It was supposed to be newlywed life, but it wasn't. It was very hard."
Ahn Young-mi said, "I have a strong need for recognition, I like attention and I imagined being stuck all day with a man who would love me for life, but I couldn't do that," and added, "But it wasn't just me who was having a hard time; wasn't the whole nation suffering then? So I couldn't even say on air that 'it's hard.' I thought I had to let go of my fantasies about marriage then."
She said, "I do a daily radio show, and my husband works in the U.S., so he comes to Korea once every three or four months, we see each other and then he returns to the U.S.," and added, "I used to be very afraid, but after doing broadcasting for 20 years, I think I'm starting to find it somewhat fun," showing steady enthusiasm as a "working mom" after marriage and receiving encouragement from her seniors.
Ahn Young-mi met her husband through radio in 2019 and started a family. She gave birth to a healthy son in 2023 and built her family.
