Singer Baek Ji-young's husband, actor Jung Seok-won, shared his own dieting method.
On the 4th, a video titled "First reveal of Jung Seok-won's diet plan that wooed Baek Ji-young with a muscular body (losing holiday weight)" was uploaded to Baek Ji-young's YouTube channel.
That day, Jung Seok-won and Baek Ji-young prepared breakfast after about 16 hours of fasting. Jung Seok-won said, "Did we eat dinner at 5:30? We never eat anything after 6. Then you feel a little hungry until you fall asleep, but if you endure it, it's good," and Baek Ji-young said, "That's right. I now enjoy that feeling of emptiness. So I like feeling a little hungry in the morning."
In response, Jung Seok-won offered to make the oatmeal dish he eats, and Baek Ji-young said, "I'll eat salad," adding, "I'll make the salad. You make the oatmeal. I'll just taste it." After that, Jung Seok-won began cooking in earnest. He recalled, "This is what I always ate when I was dieting. But even then when I was so hungry and struggling, I think I ate this. Even that was unacceptable to me. I was dieting too hard then."
After finishing the dish, he said regretfully, "Ah, it would be delicious if there was exactly some chicken breast here." Tasting the dish Jung Seok-won made, Baek Ji-young admired, "At first glance it feels like egg porridge," and said, "It's delicious." Jung Seok-won explained, "I used to always add chicken breast. I also put in shiitake mushrooms. There needs to be texture. Then it really feels like a full meal," adding, "It's surprisingly very simple. If you don't have time in the morning or need to work out right away, it's not a burden. Oatmeal is a superfood, after all."
He went on to say, "If you eat like this you feel full but you don't gain weight. You can cook chicken breast for about 1 or 2 minutes and get a lot out of it. Then just heat it, cut it with scissors and eat—it tastes good." But Baek Ji-young confessed, "It tastes good but I want kimchi. It's a bit greasy," and Jung Seok-won emphasized, "You have to overcome it."
Baek Ji-young asked, "You ate kimchi when you were on a diet, right?" and Jung Seok-won replied, "I don't think I ate it. I ate totally clean," adding, "Did I lose 15kg in four months?" Then Baek Ji-young said, "Two months. I remember exactly. I lost about 15kg in just two months. When you first started, weren't you 94kg?" Jung Seok-won revealed, "I was 98kg. But the director suddenly asked me to lose weight. At that time it wasn't just 15kg; during filming I lost over 20kg and went down to 72kg," surprising viewers.
When asked, "How do you think about dieting?" he said, "I do it because I have to, not because it's generally necessary. I had to make my body fit that character, so I did it that way. It's not necessary for everyone," he emphasized.
Baek Ji-young asked, "When I hear people around me say they're dieting, they don't want to exercise but want to eat tasty things. They take diet pills to lose weight moderately. That's not good, right?" Jung Seok-won said, "These days, friends who exercise try to get carbohydrates, proteins and fats from natural foods as much as possible. Supplements are just supplements. They are meant to replace a meal when you couldn't eat. I generally don't recommend them to people around me," adding, "Finding enjoyment is important. It's more important to feel the need and find it enjoyable than to do it half-forced. But it's hard to get to that point. That's when you have to overcome it," he said, stating his conviction.
