'80s MBC Seoul Gayoje MC Kim Hee-ae presents the 2nd part following part 1 with 1980s "hemeco (hair+makeup+coordinator)".
MBC variety program "Hangout with Yoo?" (directed by Kim Jin-yong, Lee Joo-won, Ahn Ji-seon, Lee Do-eun, Bang Sung-su / writer Noh Min-seon) is receiving a strong response with "80s MBC Seoul Gayoje," which revived the romance and sensibility of the 1980s. The first part of the music festival, broadcast on Sept. 27, saw its peak minute rating surge to 8.2%, ranking first overall among Saturday variety show ratings (Nielsen Korea, Seoul metropolitan area). It also ranked first in the Saturday non-drama category in the 4th week of September TV topicality survey (Good Data Corporation).
In particular, MC Kim Hee-ae of the "80s Seoul Gayoje attracted much attention with a perfect "hemeco (hair+makeup+coordinator)" that led viewers back to the 1980s. She wore voluminous hair styling, glamorous color makeup, and coordinated a purple two-piece. Kim Hee-ae also used speech, remarks and diction to make viewers feel as if they had come to the 1980s. Viewers reacted, "The original book-cover goddess recreated it, so it's literally the 1980s," "At first glance I thought it was archival footage from the 1980s," and "They didn't do it sloppily; they did it properly."
In the released photos, MC Kim Hee-ae's part 2 "hemeco," following part 1, is revealed, drawing attention. Kim Hee-ae appears after changing into a black mini dress. She recreated the voluminous bangs that were fashionable at the time and applied red lipstick to evoke the mood and sensibility of the 1980s. Holding a microphone with a sponge cover completes the 1980s vibe.
Standing at the MC's podium, Kim Hee-ae said, "I prepared hair, makeup and wardrobe with an 1980s concept. I worried a lot, but actually wearing it and being with the audience makes it feel like a memory," opening the second part of the music festival and raising expectations. Drawing on her experience as a lead MC on 1980s college song festivals and the show "Saturday Is Fun," Kim Hee-ae, together with Yoo Jae-seok, effectively fulfills her role as MC in reviving viewers' old memories.
