The group KATSEYE, which is showing explosive growth across various global popularity indicators, added another music video with over 100 million views on YouTube.
According to HYBE and Geffen Records on the 3rd, the music video for "Gnarly," a track from KATSEYE's second EP BEAUTIFUL CHAOS, surpassed 100 million views on YouTube around 7 a.m. that day. It is their second music video to reach 100 million cumulative views.
It took about nine months for the music video for "Touch," one of the double title tracks from KATSEYE's debut EP, to reach the same number of views. The music video for "Gnarly," which was pre-released as a digital single on Apr. 30 ahead of the album release, exceeded 100 million views in about five months, showing how their status has changed.
"Gnarly" is a song based on the hyper-pop genre with added dance and punk elements. Global hitmakers including producers Pink Slip, Tim Randolph, "hitman" bang, and Slow Rabbit joined forces to create a bold and fresh sound. The music video for the song has been praised for its experimental and psychedelic direction, and it continues to be loved for the members' dynamic performances and facial acting.
KATSEYE, which debuted last June through HYBE and Geffen Records' global audition project The Debut: Dream Academy, rose to prominence as the next-generation pop icon in a short time.
Including "Gnarly," the combined Spotify streams of the five songs on their second EP BEAUTIFUL CHAOS recently surpassed 700 million, the highest streaming total to date for a girl group single album released so far this year. Spotify monthly listeners also topped 32 million as of September, ranking first among girl groups tracked during the same period.
Building on that popularity, KATSEYE has achieved notable results on the U.S. Billboard main charts. Alongside "Gnarly," another hit "Gabriela," also enjoying twin success, reached No. 45 on the Billboard Hot 100 (Sept. 27 issue), marking their highest position, and the EP BEAUTIFUL CHAOS reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200 (Jul. 12 issue).
KATSEYE will ride the momentum into their first solo North American tour beginning in November, covering 16 shows in 13 cities. Tickets for the tour are already sold out. In Apr. next year, they will participate in the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, known as the "dream stage."
