On that day, Geumjjok treated his father, who tried to talk to him, like an invisible person and ignored him. He went to the room with his mother and younger sibling to avoid his father, but his father followed and asked, "If Geumjjok is uncomfortable, won't he tell me what it is so I can know?"
The mother moved aside so the two could talk, and the father said, "If dad asks, you should answer." At that moment, Geumjjok shouted in informal speech, "I don't want to talk to you."
An angry father grabbed Geumjjok and said, "Who calls their dad 'you'?" but Geumjjok shot back, "It's because of you that I'm like this. Who hits their child?"
Geumjjok also said, "You always hit me and get angry," and the father replied, "Because you did wrong, I punished you and so on. You are my child and I'm disciplining and educating you." To this, Geumjjok said in anger, "Just because I'm your child, you can do whatever you want?" and vented, "You're always right, aren't you? You think you're the center of the world and I don't want to talk to you. Go away."
When asked, "Why do you think that?" the mother lamented, "When I have a conversation with him, he steers the discussion to prove his own thoughts are right. That's how it ends. I feel the same; he'll do as he pleases anyway, so what's the point of talking. I'm not happy to have a conversation and I stop speaking."
