Group BLACKPINK member Rosé suffered racial discrimination, sparking global fan outrage, and a British fashion magazine issued an apology.
Earlier, ELLE UK posted several photos on its official social media account showing the scene at the Saint Laurent 2026 SS fashion show held in Paris, France.
That day, Rosé participated in the fashion show as Saint Laurent's global ambassador and took a group photo with Charlie XCX, model Hailey Bieber, and actress Zoë Kravitz, but ELLE UK uploaded the group photo with only Rosé cropped out, sparking controversy. Rosé could not be found in the other photos either.
Fans poured out protests saying ELLE UK had deliberately excluded Rosé, and the British press also criticized it. Eventually ELLE UK posted a solo photo of Rosé on social media two days later on the 2nd (local time) and issued an apology.
ELLE UK said, "We sincerely apologize for having cropped Rosé out of the group photo during the photo resizing process in our recent Paris Fashion Week posts. There was absolutely no intention to cause offense to anyone."
It added, "The post has been removed, and ELLE UK promises to do its best going forward to ensure our coverage sufficiently reflects diversity so it can represent our valued readers."
Meanwhile, in addition to ELLE UK, Charlie XCX and Hailey Bieber posted photos on social media in which only Rosé was darkly shadowed, intensifying the racial discrimination controversy.
