Hanwha Eagles infielder Ha Joo-seok and cheerleader Kim Yeon-jung will marry on Dec. 6.
Recently, a video titled 'Ha Joo-seok Dec. 6' was released on the YouTube channel 'Baseball manager.'
The video contained behind-the-scenes footage from Ha Joo-seok and Kim Yeon-jung's dating period through their wedding. Baseball manager said, "The two are getting married on Dec. 6. Kim Yeon-jung is still an active Hanwha Eagles cheerleader," noting that she will continue her activities after the wedding.
According to Baseball manager, Ha Joo-seok and Kim Yeon-jung had been dating for about five years. Baseball manager said, "In Ha Joo-seok's words, 'She helped me when I was at my lowest. She really helped me when I caused trouble and wasn't seeing people.'" During the five years the two dated, it was a time when Ha Joo-seok faced controversies such as drunk driving and questions about his character.
Originally the marriage was to be announced through Kim Yeon-jung's YouTube channel, but it was ruined when MBC commentator Jeong Min-cheol mentioned it during a live broadcast. Baseball manager said, "The news had already spread around the baseball world."
Meanwhile, Ha Joo-seok entered the Hanwha Eagles as the overall No. 1 pick in the first round of the 2012 rookie draft. Although he experienced ups and downs due to several controversies, including drunk driving and bench clearing, Ha Joo-seok, who served as the starting shortstop and captain, remained with the Hanwha Eagles by signing a free agent contract worth a total of 110 million won before this season. In the second half of this season, he hit .314, helping the team reach the post season for the first time in seven years.
Kim Yeon-jung, who debuted in 2007 as a cheerleader for Ulsan Mobiis Fever, was nicknamed 'Kyungsung University Jun Ji-hyun' for her resemblance to actress Jun Ji-hyun, and drew attention as one of the 'three goddesses of the ballpark' alongside Park Ki-ryang and Kang Yoon-i. With her tall 172 cm height and looks resembling Jun Ji-hyun, Kim Yeon-jung gained great popularity as a cheerleader and after stints with the Hanwha Eagles (2009-2011), Lotte Giants (2012) and NC Dinos (2013-2016), she has been active again as a Hanwha Eagles cheerleader since 2017.
