Actor Yang Hyun-min appears in Genie, Make A Wish.
The Netflix series Genie, Make A Wish, released on Friday the 3rd, is a fantasy romantic comedy about Genie (played by Kim Woo-bin), a lamp spirit whose career was interrupted and who awakens after about a thousand years, meeting the emotionless human Ga-young (played by Suzy) and clashing over three wishes.
Park Chang-sik, played by Yang Hyun-min, is the village head of Cheongpung village where Ga-young lives, a passionate character who leads the village more than anyone when it comes to village affairs. A former marine, he shows a manly and bold side while also revealing a surprising charm as a devoted husband limited to his wife and daughter, adding enjoyment by showing a different side from his previous roles.
Yang Hyun-min debuted in 2005 in the play Miracle, and based on acting skill and depth built through diverse stage experience, he expanded his range to television and film without being bound by genre or role, appearing in dramas such as drama Mrs. Cop, Six Flying Dragons, Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim, The King: Eternal Monarch, The Good Detective, Hong Cheon-gi, Lovers, Woman Who Plays, and films such as Cheer Up, Byeong-heon, Extreme Job, Remember, Dream, and Revolver.
Yang Hyun-min delivered lively performances with distinctive acting in each appearance, bringing upbeat energy to living-room audiences. In particular, in the recently concluded SBS series The Fiery Priest 2, he played Captain Park, the boss of the Yongsa faction linked to a drug cartel, undergoing a striking external transformation with permed hair and sunglasses, portraying a quirky character with nonchalant finesse that captured everyone's attention.
Known for his life-centered acting that breathes vitality into characters with human warmth, Yang Hyun-min has established himself as a reliable scene-stealer, and interest is growing in what kind of performance he will deliver in Genie, Make A Wish.
