A PD who worked at Daekyo Children TV, Yu Go-un, died while battling ovarian cancer. She was 45. According to industry sources, Yu Go-un, who brought laughter and emotion to viewers while producing children's broadcasts, died early that morning in the hospice ward of the National Cancer Center in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. She was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in 2022 and began her fight against the disease. In life, because of the nature of her job in the broadcasting industry she not only failed to receive timely treatment due to overwork, but she argued that the cause of her ovarian cancer was overwork and irregular night labor, and is known to have been preparing an administrative lawsuit related to this until the end.
Yu, a PD, entered the broadcasting industry working part-time as a stage director (FD) for the EBS children's program Banggwi Daejang Ppungppungi. She later joined the cable broadcaster Daekyo Children TV in 2005 and planned various children's programs such as Mystery Times, Kiwi, and Art Between Classics. She received 10 awards for those programs. Her funeral rites were held in Room 8 at Seoul St. Mary's Funeral Hall. The funeral procession is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on the 5th, and the burial site is Seoul Memorial Park.
