"Boss" director Ra Hee-chan expressed gratitude toward the actors who worked hard for their characters.
On the broadcast of SBS PowerFM's Park Ha-sun's Cinetown on the 2nd, in the Cinetoe-dae-seok segment, the film Boss (director Ra Hee-chan) lead actor Jo Woo-jin and director Ra Hee-chan appeared as guests.
Boss is a comic action film that depicts the desperate battles of organization members who fiercely "yield" the boss position to each other for their own dreams ahead of the next boss selection that determines the organization's future.
To portray Soon-tae, who runs a Chinese restaurant in the film, Jo Woo-jin received help from chefs Ye Gyeong-rae and Park Eun-young. Jo Woo-jin said, "At first I went to the restaurant without knowing who I would learn from, and I was surprised to find Chef Ye Gyeong-rae there. It felt like going to learn basketball for a basketball movie and finding Michael Jordan there."
He said, "While slurping noodles beside them, there was no way I would be good from the start. I kept messing up, wearing a mask and sweating hard, and there was someone who revived me. I kept apologizing and practicing. Later, when I watched Culinary Class Wars, I realized that person was Chef Park Eun-young. Not long ago I greeted her on Please Take Care of My Refrigerator, and I told her I was grateful and sorry."
He added, "They handled the heavy wok as if water was flowing. Even though it was heavy, they did it only with a wrist snap. I was doing it with all my strength, but they used no force and did it with a snap. I tried hard to learn that part a lot."
Also, Jung Kyung-ho learned tango for four months for his character. Director Ra Hee-chan said, "I wanted each character to be different, so I gave many gaps with cooking and dance and so on. We thought four months wouldn't work, but it did. At first WOOJIN was really bad. He had no interest in cooking at all. As he entered Soon-tae, he stuck with it to the end. On set he kept carrying a knife and practiced fiercely. Mr. Kyung-ho practiced tango and even had toenails come off. I'm grateful," raising expectations.
Meanwhile, the film Boss opens in theaters on the 3rd.
