Starship Entertainment, the agency of the group IVE (IVE: Ahn Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Jang Wonyoung, Liz, Leeseo), withdrew a trademark lawsuit against a leather workshop.
On the 2nd, Starship Entertainment said, "We are informing you about the situation regarding the trademark related to our artist IVE," adding, "We confirm that this case was an action taken independently by an agent without prior consultation with our company."
It added, "As soon as the company became aware of the fact, it reviewed the legality of the procedure and promptly withdrew the lawsuit. We deeply regret causing confusion to many people in this process."
Starship Entertainment said, "Starship, while protecting artists' rights, also respects the rights and efforts of those who have run their businesses faithfully for a long time. Going forward, we will manage more carefully to prevent a recurrence of such incidents and do our best to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings for artists and fans."
Earlier, the leather workshop IVE Brother Goods said on the 30th of last month that Starship Entertainment had sent a notice of trial to cancel the trademark registration. The leather workshop owner appealed, saying, "I completed business registration in 2019 and IVE debuted in 2021," and "Even if there were exhibitions or collaborations with public institutions, why bring such a trial?"
Afterward, Starship Entertainment said that legal procedures were carried out through an agent without IVE's consent and withdrew the lawsuit.
