Comedian Lee Jin-ho, who was under investigation for illegal gambling, was confirmed to have a blood alcohol level that warrants license cancellation based on blood test results.
Lee Jin-ho is accused of driving about 100km from Incheon to Yangseo-myeon, Yangpyeong County, where his residence is, in the early morning of the 24th of last month while intoxicated.
After receiving a witness report, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency requested cooperation from the Yangpyeong police station, and the Yangpyeong station tracked Lee Jin-ho's vehicle movement route and arrested him at about 3:23 a.m. the same day.
At the time of arrest, Lee Jin-ho's blood alcohol concentration was 0.11%, the level for license cancellation. The police then conducted a blood test at Lee Jin-ho's request, and the National Forensic Service notified them that the blood test on the 26th of last month showed 0.12%, 0.01 percentage points higher than at the time of arrest.
Lee Jin-ho admitted to the charges during the first police investigation, but he reportedly did not testify about specific motives for the crime.
Lee Jin-ho's agency said, "According to confirmation with Lee Jin-ho himself, he drove under the influence in the early morning today (Sept. 24). He completed the investigation requested by the relevant police station at the time of detection and is awaiting disposition." The agency added, "Lee Jin-ho believes this is his fault without any excuses or rationalizations and is deeply reflecting. The agency also feels responsible and will ensure that Lee Jin-ho faithfully complies with the disposition and receives legal measures."
