Actor Ma Dong-seok and Lee Jin-wook face off head-on in a Netflix action blockbuster.
According to OSEN reporting on the 2nd, Netflix is preparing to produce a new film, Extraction: Taigo, that expands the Extraction universe, and Ma Dong-seok and Lee Jin-wook have joined the project.
The Extraction series is a global action franchise starring Chris Hemsworth with the Russo brothers producing and writing, and through the 2020 first film and 2023's Extraction 2 it has established itself as Netflix's representative action brand. While discussions about producing Extraction 3 continue, this time an independent work that expands the universe, Extraction: Taigo, is scheduled to be released.
In the new film Ma Dong-seok appears as a mercenary who undertakes a dangerous mission to rescue a kidnapped comrade. In particular, he participated directly in the original concept work beyond a simple appearance, and his production company BigPunch Pictures Co. Ltd. is also joining as a co-producer to raise the project's quality. Lee Jin-wook joins to create a tense confrontation with Ma Dong-seok, heightening the suspense.
Direction is by director Lee Sang-yong, who left a strong impression on the action genre with The Roundup: No. 2 and The Roundup: No. 3. The screenplay is written by actor and writer Cha Woo-jin, completing a solid narrative. Production support comes from BigPunch Pictures Co. Ltd., B&C, and Nova Film Co. Ltd.
