From G-Dragon to IVE's Jang Won-young, director Park Chan-wook, player Park Ji-sung, DJ Peggy Goo, and President Lee Jae-myung… a promotional video for the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit that brought together Korea's most luxurious celebrities in one place has become an immediate hot topic as soon as it was released.
The promotional video was simultaneously released domestically and internationally on the 2nd through various channels such as terrestrial broadcasters, cable and YouTube. Production was handled by Dolphiners Film, known for its imaginative vision and bold direction, and director Shin Woo-seok took the helm. Unlike traditional state event promotional videos, it is characterized by a symbolic and playful direction that uniquely interprets APEC, where national leaders gather.
In particular, the video showcases the charm of Korean culture against the backdrop of a restaurant with a hanok exterior, with figures representing K-culture such as G-Dragon, Jang Won-young, director Park Chan-wook, Park Ji-sung, chef Anh Sung-jae, and DJ Peggy Goo appearing one after another like cameos. The stage then moves into the traditional scenery of Gyeongju, and the final scene ends with the tails of APEC member countries' aircraft lined up behind a Korean aircraft. At that moment, President Lee Jae-myung appears as an aircraft marshaller (parking attendant), directing countries from around the world to Korea, leaving a strong impression on viewers.
Above all, the reason this project became a topic of conversation is that despite the star-studded cast, all participants joined with no guarantees. G-Dragon returned home immediately after his New York concert to finish filming and then rushed off to Las Vegas, director Park Chan-wook also squeezed the shoot between overseas film promotion schedules. Jang Won-young, Park Ji-sung, chef Anh Sung-jae, DJ Peggy Goo and others also reportedly took part willingly amid tight schedules.
Director Shin Woo-seok said, "We needed popular culture figures who represent Korea. I'm grateful they agreed to participate despite their busy schedules because they sympathized with the purpose," and noted, "The video aimed to offer pride and emotion to the public beyond simple promotion."
When the video was released, internet users reacted explosively, saying, "The lineup is seriously insane," "Even though it's a state event promotional video, it felt like a movie trailer," "The fact that it's no guarantee makes it more touching," and "The world is gathering in Gyeongju, the message is cool."
This APEC promotional video, which united global celebrities, domestic stars and even the president, has become more than a simple event notice and has taken its place as a symbolic work proving to the world the "K-content strength" Korea has produced.
