Singer Youngtak joined "Dogs Are Wonderful."
On the 2nd, KBS2's new variety show "Dogs Are Wonderful" held its production press conference online. Attendees included Lee Kyung-kyu, Youngtak, veterinarian Kim Hyun-joo, trainer Lee Woong-jong, Kwon Hyuk-pil, Yang Eun-joo, and Choi Min-hyuk.
"Dogs Are Wonderful," which first aired in November 2019 (hereafter "Dogs Are Wonderful"), saw trainer Kang Hyeong-wook and Lee Kyung-kyu visit dogs with behavioral problems to provide solutions and lead improvements in a mature companion animal culture. As a result, it won the KBS Entertainment Awards hot-issue variety program award in 2020, the KBS Entertainment Awards producer special award (Kang Hyeong-wook) in 2021, the best entertainer award in the show/variety institutional sector (Jang Doyoun), the KBS Entertainment Awards entertainer of the year award (Lee Kyung-kyu) in 2022, and the popularity award (Jang Doyoun), establishing itself as a representative companion animal program.
KBS is upgrading "Dogs Are Wonderful" to a new look to match the era of 15 million companion owners. This time, it opens the troubled-dog academy and begins various one-on-one tailored trainings with the homeroom trainers. For this, principal Lee Kyung-kyu, head teacher Youngtak, school nurse veterinarian Kim Hyun-joo, homeroom trainer legend trainer Lee Woong-jong, MacGyver trainer Kwon Hyuk-pil, national team trainer Yang Eun-su, and desire trainer Choi Min-hyuk have come together.
Youngtak will take on the role of head teacher and is expected to stand out in the program with his exceptional wit. With his distinct cheerful and bright energy, he will ease the tension of owners and troubled dogs and, while offering some sharp criticism, is expected to also serve as the mood maker; he has shown deep affection to the point of composing the theme song himself.
Youngtak said, "First of all, I'm so, so grateful and happy to be able to join as an MC on a program I love so much," and said that his impressionable ability to mimic voices and memories of living with dogs were well regarded, allowing him to become an MC.
Youngtak said, "I don't currently raise dogs, but when I someday have plenty of time to be with dogs, I will learn the teaching from the teachers by my side here on site and be in the position of learning together with viewers," and about his role as head teacher he said, "I'll ask questions viewers are curious about on their behalf, and beside the principal who is very sensitive to cold, I'll play the role of a heater."
Especially, Youngtak revealed the "Dogs Are Wonderful" school song he composed himself. Upon hearing it, Lee Kyung-kyu said, "I'm thrilled. My heart is pounding, and I can't help but feel overwhelmed. Just having a school song makes me happy."
Meanwhile, KBS2's "Dogs Are Wonderful" will premiere on the 9th at 8:30 p.m.
