Fans of actor Kim Soo-hyun have actively worked to correct the facts regarding misunderstandings and rumors spreading about a photo.
On the 1st, the Kim Soo-hyun Korea and global fan union said in an official statement that "baseless claims about the actor are continuing," and asked that secondary harm toward Kim Soo-hyun be stopped.
On the 30th of last month, the YouTube channel 'Yeonye Dwitongryeong' uploaded a video titled "Why did Kim Soo-hyun's ex-lover's letter get revealed as an extreme move? The unexpected reality of a two-timing rumor!" The channel said "Kim Soo-hyun is currently under extreme stress," and reported that Kim Soo-hyun has had no way to relieve that stress other than hiking alone to collect himself. Detailed reports on Kim Soo-hyun's recent condition had not been provided for about six months since the March 30 press conference regarding the late Kim Sae-ron.
The YouTube channel released a photo said to be of Kim Soo-hyun taken while hiking, but this was a post Kim Soo-hyun himself uploaded to his social media on Aug. 28, 22022.
However, as the photo was turned into an article it caused confusion by being perceived as a recently taken photo of his condition, and when malicious comments such as "who took the photo?" followed, the fan union again stepped in. The fan union said it would "firmly respond to distorted reporting and indiscriminate secondary harm to protect the actor's rights," and added, "We will stand with him to the end so the actor's name is not unjustly shaken."
Earlier in May, an audio file purportedly of the late Kim Sae-ron, containing claims that she had dated Kim Soo-hyun since middle school, was released. In response, Kim Soo-hyun's side said "the audio file is completely forged, and Gold Medalist has determined that the audio file was created through AI, etc.," and announced it would strongly respond to the false claim. In addition, Kim Soo-hyun's legal representative, lawyer Go Sang-rok, recently dismissed the claim that "the deceased dated him for six years since middle school" as "a baseless falsehood" on his YouTube channel Jin-gyeok-ui Go-byeon, and took the extreme step of releasing about 150 diary-style entries left during Kim Soo-hyun's military service that show interactions with his actual girlfriend.
