"Challranhan neoui gyejeore" has completed a "brilliant lineup," confirming the participation of Lee Mi-sook, Kang Seok-woo, Han Ji-hyun and Oh Ye-ju.
MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama "Challranhan neoui gyejeore" scheduled to air in the first half of next year (planned by Namgung Seong-woo / written by Jo Seong-hee / directed by Jeong Sang-hee, Kim Young-jae / produced by Pan Entertainment) is a work that depicts an unpredictable "Challran" romance in which a man, Chan, who lives every day like an exciting summer vacation, and a woman, Ran, who has locked herself in winter, meet by fate and awaken frozen time.
"Challranhan neoui gyejeore" teams up Jo Seong-hee, the "master of refreshing romance" who wrote "I'm Thirty But Seventeen," "She Was Pretty" and "High School King of Savvy," with PD Jeong Sang-hee, who has been recognized for delicate directing in "Please Send Fan Letters" and "Wonderful World." Lee Seong-kyung and Chae Jong-hyeop join them, along with Lee Mi-sook and Kang Seok-woo, who will be the pillars of the drama, and Han Ji-hyun and Oh Ye-ju, who will deliver lively sister chemistry, raising expectations among prospective viewers.
In the drama, Lee Mi-sook plays Kim Na-na, an empress representing the global fashion world and the grandmother of three sisters. Na-na is a first-generation fashion designer who reached the top while raising her daughter alone during study abroad and is a cold warrior who firmly protects her three granddaughters. But in an unexpected situation, she reunites with her first love, Man-jae, and once again welcomes spring into her closed life. Interest is focused on how Lee Mi-sook will portray the layered emotions of a designer's charisma, a grandmother's anguish and a twilight romance.
Kang Seok-woo plays Park Man-jae, a barista who runs a quiet neighborhood café called "Shim" after his retirement. He has been a refuge for longtime regular Song Ha-ran (played by Lee Seong-kyung) and continues a cross-generational friendship through a tranquil daily life. Through Ha-ran, Man-jae faces his first love Na-na again and encounters forgotten excitement and change. Expectations are growing for how Kang Seok-woo will show Man-jae's story with depth against the warm setting of "Shim."
Han Ji-hyun plays Song Ha-young, the second of the three sisters and a junior designer on Team Design 1 at Na-na's atelier. With a bright personality and a hearty laugh, she plays the role of the family's mood maker. Having shown a solid acting spectrum through dramas such as "I Don't Want to Lose," "Cheer Up" and the "Penthouse" series and the film "Face," Han Ji-hyun is expected to complete the cheerful and resilient Ha-young character with her unique charm.
Oh Ye-ju appears as Song Ha-dam, the youngest of the three sisters and an all-around high school girl. Although Ha-dam is young, she is the most capable and mature of the three sisters and is a 100-point granddaughter to her grandmother Na-na. But one day, Ha-dam, who had not caused trouble for 19 years, utters a single remark that turns Na-na's house upside down and brings a new change to the drama. Oh Ye-ju, a rising star who drew attention through "Love Is on the Catwalk" and "Schurup," is expected to show the three sisters' chemistry with Lee Seong-kyung and Han Ji-hyun, becoming another viewing point of "Challranhan neoui gyejeore."
The production team said the joining of Lee Mi-sook, Kang Seok-woo, Han Ji-hyun and Oh Ye-ju, who span generations, will capture a range of tones from twilight romance to youthful excitement and complete a story that people of all ages can relate to, adding that the veteran actors' deep performances combined with the young actors' fresh energy will carry both weight and vitality in the work and asked for much anticipation.
Meanwhile, MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama "Challranhan neoui gyejeore" has finished full preparations and is stepping up production aimed at airing in the first half of next year.
