Actor Lee Min-jung directly confessed a painful family history that had not been known before, moving many people's hearts.
On the 30th, Lee Min-jung released a video titled "Home invasion. Tried to go on a date after a long time but my son and dad came along too;;" on her YouTube channel Lee Min-jung MJ. The home shown that day drew attention for its cozy yet luxurious interior, but within it a story known only to the family was revealed.
Lee Min-jung's mother tentatively began, "Originally there were three babies, I wonder if I should say this," and Lee Min-jung calmly replied, "You can," and received it. In fact, before Lee Min-jung was born her mother had already experienced losing a baby. Her mother said, "After a vaccination the child had a fever," and Lee Min-jung recalled, "So every time I got a shot my mother would tremble and cry. I would smile and say I was fine and get the shot." She added, "In high school I saw a photo of my mother holding another girl and wondered, 'Could it be a second marriage?' Later I learned that she was a sister who had gone to heaven earlier. It's something buried in the heart," which brought tears.
Earlier, through another video titled "Lee Min-jung life briefing," she also honestly answered the public perception of being so-called a "gold spoon." She acknowledged her family background, saying, "My grandfather and maternal uncle received presidential awards in the arts, and there was also a KAIST professor who was a researcher at an Antarctic base. Those stories are true," but confessed, "Economically we weren't always affluent. My father had difficult times, and I decided in my 20s that I needed to earn money." She drew a line, saying, "Thanks to my parents I could do the things I wanted without lacking, but I wasn't a gold spoon who could squander money."
Internet users showed great sympathy for Lee Min-jung's candid confession. "Because of the rich family daughter image I thought she was always happy, but it hurts to know she had such pain," "Her matter-of-fact way of speaking is even more heartbreaking. How shocked and distressed she must have been," "I hope from now on she has only happiness instead of sorrow," and other voices of support followed.
