YouTuber Shuka appealed his innocence after apologizing amid controversy over "Ilbe image use."
On the 30th, on the YouTube channel "Money Comics," YouTubers Kim Seong-hoe and Shuka held a live broadcast, during which Shuka lamented, "In my whole life I have never visited that site even once. Once. I've never visited it even once, this X."
He continued, "No, I didn't even make it," and repeatedly appealed his innocence, saying, "The media ran it as a headline, the YouTube channel's incorrect material was headlined as 'Shuka Ilbe.' Don't they have any other news? I didn't say that either."
He also said, "It came out because the team that makes the materials made a mistake," and sighed, "They really picked it maliciously. After seeing that I thought a lot. Korea's media has gone as far as it can. I didn't say it, and I didn't write it. Because of that material mistake. I wondered a lot whether I should continue being a YouTuber. I'm feeling a big reality check."
Earlier on the 29th, Shuka said on his channel, "There was an unfortunate incident in which a maliciously manipulated image was broadcast during this week's live. The image was cleverly manipulated, so neither the research team's first review nor my second review detected the problem."
He added, "From now on we will assign a staff member dedicated to review to establish a three-step review system and check more thoroughly. Also, as a token of apology, I will donate 30 million won to the Korean Red Cross's campaign to help descendants of independence activists," and apologized for causing the controversy.
Meanwhile, Shuka is a popular YouTuber and economic creator with 3.6 million subscribers. A graduate of Seoul National University's department of economics, he also worked as a bond prop trader and fund manager at Samsung Asset Management. He has appeared on various entertainment programs such as SBS's "Money Worrier School 2," KakaoTV's "Ants Are Chubby Today Too," KBS1's "Issue Pick, with Teacher," and Wavve's "Game of Blood."<
