Travel creator Gwak Tube (Gwak Jun-bin), who is about to get married, revealed an anecdote about proposing to his fiancée.
Gwak Tube recently grants on a live broadcast hosted by Chimchakman and talked about various topics including his feelings ahead of the wedding.
On that day, when asked if he had proposed, he said, "I felt like I picked up the proposal on the way," and added, "My girlfriend has no material desires at all. She's completely the opposite of me."
He said, "She said she wanted to receive something for the proposal, so I told her this. 'A proposal means an offer, and I made a marriage proposal and you accepted, so a proposal is not necessary. Didn't we already book our wedding venue in May? I'll count the proposal as already done,'" and added, "I said it like that coolly. But in my head I was thinking. I talked like I really wouldn't do it, but I had to do it."
He said he consulted Ryu Hyun-kyung for advice on the proposal and explained, "I didn't know how to propose, and because I don't have many female friends, I asked Ryu Hyun-kyung noona, and she said classic is good, the basics are best. I worried about how to do it, fearing it might look tacky. Something like opening the trunk and balloons popping out or opening the door to find candles laid out felt like the Pretty Woman/Chunhyang vibe, so I went with a 'picked up on the way' feeling."
He continued, "That day I was just at home, but I ran out at dawn, prepared flowers at a famous place, asked what brands women in their 20s and 30s like, and bought a Van Cleef & Arpels necklace. And I wrote a letter diligently," adding, "My girlfriend cried. I didn't cry but thought inwardly that it was tear-worthy."
Meanwhile, they will hold their wedding on Oct. 11 at a hotel in Yeouido, Seoul. Gwak Tube's fiancée is a civil servant five years younger. Gwak Tube said he had planned to hold the wedding in May next year, but due to the pregnancy they will have the wedding this October.
