Lee Yong-jin spoke about a new distinction unique to EXchange season 4.
On the morning of the 1st at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, a press conference was held for the TVING (Tving) original variety show EXchange 4. The press conference was attended by producer Kim In-ha, Lee Yong-jin, Kim Ye-won and Yura.
EXchange 4 is a dating reality program in which couples who broke up for various reasons gather in one house to look back on past relationships, face new connections and find their own love.
On the day, producer Kim In-ha explained the newly introduced Time Room system: "If last season explored its theme through 'threads,' this time we are exploring the theme through time. The Time Room is a device to express whether to reunite or not by the residents' feelings in terms of time. It was newly introduced as a device to divide percentages into answers such as reuniting, transferring, or neither."
When asked about this season's distinctions, Lee Yong-jin said, "As the seasons have continued, the residents have come to reflect the environment and the program's intent more. In a way, you can feel more genuine behavior here without concern for the cameras. There may be episodes with unprecedented immersion to the point where you wonder if they even realize they're being filmed, compared with other seasons."
He added, "The development is very fast. It's a surprising point. People often talk about watching footage at 2x or 3x speed — it proceeds quickly in that way. It's dynamic."
Kim Ye-won also said, "What I felt most differently was the pace. It was so fast I worried what would happen if I chased it and it disappeared. The sense of speed was strong, and if you view the cast as characters, this time their distinct charms stand out more. I think viewers will be able to meet many truly charming figures."
Yura said, "I was also surprised by how fast the pace was, and the developments flowed in unexpected ways. Since it's our fourth season, we thought we could predict some things, but the developments went differently than expected and the cast members are different, so it felt unlike previous seasons. The personalities of the cast are all different, and this time a very chic feeling stood out. I felt a trendy vibe of the times. It was fun to watch, and there are many new devices, so I think it will be even more entertaining to watch."
Especially, Lee Yong-jin emphasized, "We have carried EXchange from season 1 through 4. I apologize to the cast members of previous seasons, but the cast members of this season overflow with charm. I'm sorry. I think the charm has reached its peak. It's historic. It has dopamine, charm, everything."
Meanwhile, EXchange 4 will be released today (the 1st) on Tving.
