Singer and actress IU recently gained weight and showed a more confident appearance.
On the 30th of last month, IU's official channel posted a video titled "IU TV Jingni cheek fat season 2025 IU FAN MEET UP "Bye, Summer" rehearsal behind the scenes."
In the video, IU looked at the camera, lightly touched her jaw and asked, "Doesn't my face look a little better?" She continued, "I gained weight. I think it looks better after gaining a little," expressing some satisfaction. IU said, "I gained a little weight while filming, and they say I look much prettier," relaying the positive reactions from those around her after gaining weight. IU is filming MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama "21st-century great military wife" with actor Byeon Wooseok.
Earlier in June, IU sparked discussion when she answered a question on a fan communication platform asking, "How tall is your older sister?" by saying, "Last year I measured 163.2, but this year I'm 162.7, so I'm shorter." In the past, actress Park Jun-geum said, "At 158 cm and 43 kg, she shares the same clothing size as IU," calling it "a small size 44," but IU's actual height of 162–163 cm drew attention.
Since her debut, IU has maintained a small frame and even confessed that "my weight is in the low to mid-40 kilograms." At one time it was reported that she wore a child clothing size of "33 and a half," surprising many. However, on the March broadcast of "Pinggego," she confessed, "I really like sweet foods and tend to gain weight in my face, so I dieted a lot. But at some point I stopped wanting to eat. My appetite itself decreased and my stomach seems to have shrunk."
Meanwhile, "21st-century great military wife" is scheduled to air in the first half of 2026.
