Actor Choi Seong-eun personally picked keywords that can express the character Song Ha-gyeong in her first KBS work, "Last Summer."
The new KBS 2TV weekend miniseries Last Summer, directed by Min Yeon-hong, written by Jeon Yu-ri, and produced by Monster Union and Slingshot Studio, which is scheduled to premiere Nov. 1 at 9:20 p.m., is a remodeling romance drama that unfolds as a man and a woman who have been friends since childhood face the truth of their first love hidden in Pandora's box.
Choi Seong-eun takes on the role of Song Ha-gyeong, an architectural civil servant who wants to leave the neighborhood Pattan-myeon where she has lived for a long time, marking her first appearance on KBS's main screen. Ha-gyeong is a character who becomes confused when Baek Do-ha (played by Lee Jae-wook), from whom she drifted apart following a certain incident two years ago, returns to Pattan-myeon. As viewers' curiosity about the complex narrative of Song Ha-gyeong increases, today (1st) Choi Seong-eun revealed her heartfelt feelings about the project.
First, on why she chose Last Summer, Choi Seong-eun said, "The small, warm stories and the relationships contained within them felt attractive. I chose the role because Song Ha-gyeong is a character who shows parts of me that many people haven't seen."
Choi Seong-eun interpreted, "Song Ha-gyeong is someone who finds it harder to be warm with the people she cherishes. Also, she is spirited and full of desire for life, so she usually does her job well," and picked Song Ha-gyeong's keywords as "chestnut burr," "green," and "tree." She explained, "Ha-gyeong appears sharp and pointed on the outside but is like a chestnut burr with a solid chestnut inside. Like the color green, she is always full of energy, and like a tree she stands silently and can sometimes look lonely, but she is a person who wants to give many things to those around her."
Choi Seong-eun also described Last Summer as a fig. On the reason, she said, "My favorite summer fruit is the fig. Just as I naturally feel summer coming when figs begin to be sold, I hope this work becomes a drama that naturally evokes summer," showing her special affection for the project.
Finally, Choi Seong-eun said, "Last Summer, which comes in winter, I hope it becomes a story that can briefly warm the cold winter for viewers. Please look forward to it," and did not forget to greet the viewers.
Meanwhile, Last Summer is a work that brings together director Min Yeon-hong, who showed dense directing in Royal Lawder, the Missing: They Were series, and Insider, and writer Jeon Yu-ri, who captivated viewers with Kiss Sixth Sense and Radio Romance.
