Broadcaster Ji Seok-jin warned about the risks of voice phishing and revealed celebrity victim cases and his own experiences.
On the 29th, a video titled "Charismatic leading actress, an idol who doesn't know Kedeheon, and Mr. J from Chungju cross" was posted on the YouTube channel "JoDongari."
In the video released that day, lead actors Lee Joo-young, Ji Seung-hyun and Koo Joon-hoe of the Wavve·Dramax original drama "Punishment" appeared as guests.
In the video, Ji Seok-jin said, "There was a celebrity who lost 300 million won to voice phishing. It actually happened," and shared a shocking victim case. He added, "Even though that person was very smart, when they went to a certain site it just popped up. This person was not someone who would get caught, but they did."
He then confessed a harrowing moment he personally experienced. Ji Seok-jin recalled, "About 15 years ago, Kim Gu-ra sent a text saying, 'Hyung, it's me Gura, please send me just 2 million won,'" and said, "It was so strange that I called right away to confirm and it wasn't him. That was the early days of voice phishing."
On the day, Ji Seung-hyun said, "From January to July this year, the estimated domestic damage from voice phishing reached about 800 billion won," linking the criminal methods dealt with in the work "Punishment" to the seriousness of the reality.
Koo Joon-hoe said, "Back when you could change the caller ID, a friend who hated me sent 50 abusive texts a day," sharing his experience and drawing attention.
