BLACKPINK has once again proven its powerful presence in the global music market by setting a new record on the world's largest music platform, Spotify.
YG Entertainment said on the 30th that BLACKPINK's "Jump (JUMP)" surpassed 300 million streams on Spotify the previous day. This came about 80 days after its release on Jul. 11, and is the group's 19th song to reach 300 million streams.
It is the fastest among K-pop girl groups to reach that figure. Earlier, the song also surpassed 100 million streams in the shortest time for a K-pop girl group (17 days), and among girl group songs released this year it was the fastest to exceed 200 million (44 days). The only K-pop girl group song that reached 200 million faster is "Pink Venom" (42 days).
This achievement was anticipated early on. "Jump (JUMP)" rushed to No. 1 on the weekly chart in its first week, setting a new record for the most No. 1 songs held by a K-pop group, and even two months after its release it continues to enjoy unwaning popularity, remaining in the chart's upper ranks for 11 consecutive weeks.
Not only on Spotify but also on the U.S. Billboard charts, it continues to enjoy long-running popularity. On Billboard's main chart, the Hot 100, it has extended its own longest run and been listed for 10 consecutive weeks, and it has maintained positions on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global (Excl. U.S) during the same period.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK began performances at Goyang Sports Complex in Jul. as the first K-pop girl group to do so and launched the "BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR" spanning 16 cities and 33 shows
