A singer-turned-broadcaster Hwang Kwanghee emphasized the need for a generational change in variety shows.
On the 29th, the "Half Myungsoo" channel uploaded a video titled "PD Kim Tae-ho: "The precious TEO has humble (Myungsoo X Kwanghee) Infinite Challenge members here again"."
That day, as a guest on "Half Myungsoo," Hwang Kwanghee appeared and produced Chuseok special content. Park Myungsoo asked Kwanghee, "How have you been lately?" and Kwanghee said, "Many people ask me why I'm not on TV (they do)," and cautiously began, "It's not that I'm not appearing on TV.. actually."
Park Myungsoo asked, "Did you make someone dislike you?" and Kwanghee replied, "It's not that. These days the seniors are doing so well. A generational change is necessary. Oh, I'm not leaving!" which drew laughter.
He said, "Even the younger brothers and older brothers are amazing," and Park Myungsoo fired a blunt line, "But the problem with generational change is that if we don't have the ability, it will automatically change, right? So it's that the juniors don't have the ability."
In response, Kwanghee said, "The juniors are working hard in their own ways. But this might sound like an excuse, but when you get older they kind of..." encouraging "voluntary retirement," which caused uproarious laughter.
He asked, "Because at first I said it was so fun, but 'when is this brother leaving, really'—that's what they say. It's not that I'm telling him to go. In a way, what were you doing at 38, hyung?" and Park Myungsoo answered, "I was doing Infinite Challenge. It was when I was at my peak."
Then Kwanghee complained, "Look. You did a lot of other hosting too, didn't you? Even now I'm still the youngest when I go somewhere. Wherever I go. Because you're sitting there so prominently."
Park Myungsoo asked, "Do you want me to leave quickly?" and Kwanghee replied, "That's not it." Park Myungsoo asked again, "Do you think my seat is your seat?" and Kwanghee revealed his ambition, "At some point it will be like that, right?" He said, "There's that saying, isn't there—what elders say is all right; the saying 'old bowl, good bowl' is correct, and that reaching a certain age doesn't mean you get that seat. That's how we think."
Upon hearing this, the production staff asked, "Up to which senior's seat do you want to rise?" and Kwanghee said, "I want to reach Myungsoo hyung's seat." But when asked the question "role model Yoo Jae-suk vs. Park Myungsoo," he nervously replied, "No, what if Jae-suk hyung sees this," then candidly added, "Honestly Yoo Jae-suk. Still, I want to be number one once—how long will I live as a runner-up?" which added to the laughter.
