The group SEVENTEEN's new special unit S.Coups X Mingyu swept the album and music charts, taking No. 1 on the day mini album 1st EP "HYPE VIBES" was released.
On the 30th, according to Hanteo Chart, a site that tallies album sales, S.Coups X Mingyu's new release sold 600,575 copies on its first day (29th), immediately landing at No. 1 on the daily album chart. It is the highest first-day sales figure ever recorded for a K-pop unit album. The two showed exceptional album power by unusually achieving half-million seller status at the time of release as a unit group.
The title track "5, 4, 3 (Pretty woman) (feat. Lay Bankz)" hit No. 1 on Bugs' real-time chart immediately after release. On Melon's Top 100, the title track and the other tracks "Fiesta," "Worth it," "For you," "Young again," and "Earth" all entered the chart.
Global reaction is also hot. "5, 4, 3 (Pretty woman) (feat. Lay Bankz)" ranked No. 1 in Spain, Indonesia, the Philippines and Egypt and entered the iTunes Top Song chart in 16 countries/regions. It also settled in the upper ranks of Japan Line Music's real-time Song Top 100 chart.
The new release swept No. 1 on iTunes Top Album in 11 countries and regions and landed at No. 6 on the worldwide albums chart. On China's largest music platform QQ Music, it immediately earned the double gold certification awarded when sales reach 500,000 yuan. In addition, with sales in just one day it took No. 1 on the daily chart for the digital bestseller album EP category as well as the weekly ranking.
The music video for the title track is also a hot topic. The video rapidly increased views, taking No. 1 in South Korea, Germany and Canada as well as Indonesia, and reached the top of YouTube Music Video Trending worldwide. Online reactions poured in, calling them "the hottest duo in the world," saying it felt like "watching a whole movie through to the end credits," and calling it "retro yet trendy."
S.Coups X Mingyu participated in writing and composing every track on the mini album, completing a record anyone can enjoy and connect with. They are scheduled to appear on Mnet's "M Countdown" on the 2nd of next month to premiere their new stage and fuel the success.
