'Bon Appetit, Your Majesty' Im Yoon-ah changed history and had a happy ending with Lee Chae-min.
On the afternoon of the 28th, the final episode of the cable channel tvN weekend drama 'Bon Appetit, Your Majesty' (written by fGRD, directed by Jang Tae-yoo) depicted Lee Heon (played by Lee Chae-min), who had become a deposed monarch, reuniting with Yeon Ji-young (played by Im Yoon-ah) in the future.
In that episode, Yeon Ji-young saved Lee Heon and crossed over to the modern era. Gong Gil (played by Lee Joo-an) noticed that Je-san Daegun (played by Choi Gwi-hwa) had staged a rebellion and took Yeon Ji-young out of the palace. Meanwhile, Lee Heon had lost Im Song-jae (played by Oh Eui-sik) in Salgot-i Forest and barely survived the battle.
Yeon Ji-young worried about Lee Heon and wanted to let him know she was alive. Lee Heon returned to the palace and set out to learn Je-san Daegun's true intentions. Je-san Daegun told the returned Lee Heon about the purges, saying that it should have been him, not Lee Heon, who became king. Lee Heon eventually learned that Je-san Daegun was aiming for the throne.
Lee Heon told Je-san Daegun that he would step down as a deposed monarch and asked him to guarantee the throne for his younger brother Jinmyeong Daegun. Je-san Daegun feigned agreement and exiled Lee Heon, but in truth planned to kill him on the way into exile. Lee Heon was aware of this as well.
On the road to Lee Heon's exile, Yeon Ji-young met him in a dramatic encounter and set out to save him. Yeon Ji-young, Gong Gil, the palace stewards and military officer Shin Soo-hyeok (played by Park Young-woon) gathered to help Lee Heon. They neutralized Je-san Daegun's men who had pursued them to kill Lee Heon, and in the process Je-san Daegun kidnapped Yeon Ji-young to lure Lee Heon alone.
While Lee Heon headed to the agreed meeting place with Je-san Daegun to rescue Yeon Ji-young, Gong Gil and the military officer returned to the palace and subdued the rebels.
Meanwhile, Lee Heon went to rescue Yeon Ji-young and confronted Je-san Daegun. Lee Heon threw himself into saving Yeon Ji-young, and in the process Yeon Ji-young learned that the person who wrote 'Mangunrok' was Lee Heon. Lee Heon also realized that he was the author of the 'Mangunrok' Yeon Ji-young had been searching for.
But at that moment Je-san Daegun drew his sword toward Lee Heon, and Yeon Ji-young stepped in front of him. Yeon Ji-young suffered severe injuries and collapsed, and Lee Heon pointed his sword at Je-san Daegun. Lee Heon cradled the unconscious Yeon Ji-young and cried out, and at that moment Yeon Ji-young returned to the modern era along with the Mangunrok. Lee Heon desperately called for the vanished Yeon Ji-young.
In the modern era Yeon Ji-young opened her eyes in a hospital and immediately looked for the 'Mangunrok' she had with her, trying to return to Lee Heon. Yeon Ji-young repeatedly read passages of the 'Mangunrok' she had read when she went back to the past, trying to go to Lee Heon, but nothing changed. Unable to return to Lee Heon, Yeon Ji-young checked on Crown Prince Yeon-hee and found that his body could not be found and was listed as 'missing,' confirming that history had changed.
Afterward Yeon Ji-young tried to return to her normal life. Working at a hotel restaurant, she newly completed the dishes recorded in the 'Mangunrok' and worked to earn a Michelin star. In that process, as if by fate, she reunited with Lee Heon. The Lee Heon who had been recorded as 'missing' had come to the future modern era and found Yeon Ji-young. Yeon Ji-young and Lee Heon met again in the future and kissed, promising a happy ending. As he had promised in Joseon, Lee Heon conveyed his love by making bibimbap for Yeon Ji-young.
