Singer Kim Geon-mo (57), who halted activities after being embroiled in a "sexual assault controversy," stood before the public through a nationwide tour concert for the first time in six years.
Kim Geon-mo held the first show of '25-26 Kim Geon-mo Live Tour - Kim Geon-mo.' at the KBS Hall in Busan on 27th. Through the opening video that day, Kim calmly recounted his long hiatus with the narration, "Was it a white blank, or a deep darkness." He shared an update, saying, "I got married, and I got divorced, and that's how I lived."
He also expressed that he had wanted to complete the previous tour, which had been halted, and stated his ambition: "This time, I will put a period, not a comma."
Concert planner Istar Media Company said that although Kim Geon-mo appeared somewhat nervous early in the show, he soon communicated with fans with his trademark humor and witty talk, leading the performance in a cheerful mood.
Including signature songs such as "Seoul's moon," "A sleepless rainy night," "Excuse," and "Speed," he performed a total of 27 songs, and near the end of the show, which far exceeded the scheduled running time, Kim Geon-mo shed tears. Istar Media Company said, "With fans' unending cheers, the show continued through an encore and even a re-encore, and Kim, seemingly overwhelmed by indescribable emotions, remained unable to stand for a long time and offered a deep bow in thanks."
Kim Geon-mo, who had enjoyed a second heyday by appearing on SBS variety shows such as "My Little Old Boy," suspended all activities after allegations surfaced that he sexually assaulted a woman at a bar in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul. At the time, a woman identified as A claimed that Kim Geon-mo sexually assaulted her at a bar in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul, in 2016. In Nov. 2021, prosecutors concluded there was no charge. During this process, Kim Geon-mo went through the pain of divorce.
Kim Geon-mo will continue performances this year in Daegu, Suwon, Daejeon, and Incheon, and in Jan. next year in Seoul.
