Amid dating rumors involving VERIVERY's Kangmin and Kiss of Life's Julie, the agency Jellyfish denied them as "malicious falsehoods."
On the 29th, Jellyfish Entertainment posted a lengthy announcement on its official SNS saying, "We previously announced on Aug. 8 that we would take legal action regarding violations of the rights of our artists and trainees."
On that day, Jellyfish said, "We have confirmed that baseless rumors targeting members of our artist VERIVERY have been indiscriminately disseminated and spread through portal sites, online articles, various communities and social media."
The rumor the agency referred to is presumed to stem from CCTV sightings suggesting a relationship between VERIVERY member Kangmin and Kiss of Life's Julie. A CCTV video posted on Chinese social media site Weibo showed a man and a woman on a date at a bar, and some netizens claimed the people were VERIVERY's Kangmin and Kiss of Life's Julie.
The agency explained, "The rumor is completely untrue and is a malicious falsehood that seriously damages the artist's reputation. We prioritize protecting our artists and will take strong legal action without leniency against those who create, distribute or reproduce malicious rumors."
The agency added, "We will continue to do our best to protect the rights of our artists and will maintain persistent and tough responses to prevent damage caused by false information."
