(Following interview ②) Jung Kyung-ho of 'Boss' spoke about his distinctive slim build that makes his suit fit and action scenes shine.
Jung Kyung-ho conducted an interview on the morning of the 29th at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno District, Seoul. At this event he met with domestic reporters and talked about the upcoming film 'Boss' (director Ra Hee-chan).
'Boss' is a comic action film that depicts organization members' desperate confrontations as they fiercely "yield" the boss position to each other for their own dreams ahead of the next boss selection, which determines the organization's future. In it, Jung Kyung-ho gives a passionate performance as Kang Pyo, a man who refuses to become the organization's boss and falls for the tango.
In particular, in this work Jung Kyung-ho especially pulls off a stylish suit fit. Regarding this, he bashfully said, "Wouldn't anyone look good wearing a suit?" As shown on YouTube channels like 'Channel Sibo-ya', he became at a loss and shy when talking about himself or receiving compliments even in front of close friends, and in the interview he laughed while saying, "I really don't know what to do when I talk about myself."
At the same time, Jung Kyung-ho said strongly about the suit fit, "I actually paid a lot of attention to the suit. I had many fittings," adding, "Especially for Kang Pyo's tango entrance we reviewed the clothes a lot with the director. At that time we even got tattoos because the hands had to look nice, and we paid a lot of attention to the visuals."
For a short past scene that appears in the film, Jung Kyung-ho even prepared by bleaching and then dyeing his hair. About his profile listing him as 184cm and 73kg with a slender, slim build, he awkwardly said, "Coincidentally, while preparing for this project it said I have a very slim build. But in the drama I'm doing now (tvN's new series 'Pro Bono') it also says I'm sensitive and prickly."
He laughed and said, "In reality I don't really lose or gain weight. As I reached my mid-40s, I don't suddenly bulk up. Now I want to gain some weight. Once 'Pro Bono' is over I want to properly exercise. I've never bulked up, but I think I would gain well. I should stop being 'skin-and-bones' now."
How did the slim body handle gang action and the tango scene? Jung Kyung-ho calmly said, "There was nothing difficult because the action director was someone I had known since I was young." He added, "The main point is that in the script it says with Pan-ho (played by Park Ji-hwan) 'we crush them with tango.' We wondered how to overwhelm them with dance, but filming with Ji-hwan hyung was so much fun. And I think it turned out better than expected. Personally, I liked it."
He also added, "The tango action sequence was prepared together with the action director. We spent three to four months preparing that scene alone, and when choreographing it we prepared together with the action director."
'Boss' opens on Oct. 3.
