'Kkokkogod' caster Go Su-jin and KBS announcer Park So-hyun opened up about the careers they want to build after marriage.
The game caster 'Kkokkogod' Go Su-jin and KBS announcer Park So-hyun, who will tie the knot on Dec. 14, met reporters at the OSEN building in Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the 25th and gave an interview ahead of their wedding.
The two, who had been actively building their careers in their respective positions, said they plan to be even more active after marriage on the basis of a stable foundation. In a settled daily life, they expect to support each other's dreams and become a positive driving force for one another.
When asked if there were areas she wanted to challenge in the future, Park So-hyun said, "I've done a lot of news up to now, but I like the program I'm doing now. I'm currently hosting 'Open Concert' and it's so fun that I want to focus more on it. I'll try harder so that when people think of 'concert' or 'music show,' they think of Park So-hyun," adding, "If game content appears on terrestrial TV, that's something I'd like to try."
Specifically, Park So-hyun recalled, "Recently Hwang Ga-ram appeared and sang 'I am a firefly.' That stage was a huge topic. I heard 'Open Concert' was his first appearance on a terrestrial stage. You could see the trembling and excitement of that first appearance."
Park So-hyun said, "Even though he's not a rookie, he treasured the stage and showed sincere gratitude, which moved me. It made viewers realize that this is a meaningful stage, not a place anyone can casually come to," while mentioning why she has grown more fond of being the 'Open Concert' MC.
Regarding her personal goals, Park So-hyun said, "My biggest goal is to establish myself so that when people think of show music or concerts, they think of 'announcer Park So-hyun,'" and similarly, caster Go Su-jin said, "Whenever opportunities like LCK finals commentary or terrestrial TV commentary come, I don't want them to end as one-offs; I want to be someone people keep calling. I want to be irreplaceable."
When asked if they had goals as a couple, Park So-hyun said first, "Our goal is to create couple content. We both have the conditions to work in broadcasting. I hope we get content we can do together, or an opportunity to appear together as a married couple on a terrestrial channel."
Go Su-jin added, "Since we both work in broadcasting, it would be nice to appear together on the same show. I hope for that kind of opportunity. It would be fun to appear on 'Morning Yard' or a couple variety show. It's more of a wish than a goal."
Although they work in different fields, they share the commonality of working with microphones. Has their relationship helped or contributed to each other's growth since they started dating? Park So-hyun expressed gratitude, saying, "We're always improving. Even if it isn't felt directly, he gives me a sense of ease. He lets me feel reassured. Over the past two years he provided comfort, stability and a framework that allowed me to relax."
When asked about daily life she looks forward to after marriage, Park So-hyun said, "I'm not someone who particularly loves food, but for some reason food tastes better when I'm with my oppa," adding, "Really small everyday things? I think ordering late-night food after work and eating it would be so nice."
Go Su-jin also said, "After all, we dated privately for two years, right? Now I can post couple photos I couldn't before on Instagram, film couple YouTube videos, and show each other to the public. I'm looking forward to that. There are actually photos I wanted to post but couldn't. I'm excited that we can freely reveal those."
Born in 1990, Go Su-jin was active as a 'League of Legends' pro gamer and after retiring moved into casting; he currently handles LCK broadcasts. As a former player turned caster, he has gained fans' trust with professional analysis and explanations.
Born in 1992, announcer Park So-hyun joined as a KBS 42nd class public recruitment announcer in 2015 and has hosted major programs such as 'Challenge Golden Bell,' 'Movies Are Good,' and 'KBS Weekend News 9.' She currently hosts 'Open Concert' and 'Windows on the North and South,' showcasing a wide range of charms.
