'Hangout with Yoo?' Seoul gayoje finished its two-month journey and finally opened the curtain on the final competition.
On the 27th broadcast of the MBC entertainment program 'Hangout with Yoo?', the long-awaited '80s MBC Seoul gayoje' finals were held. With Kim Hee-ae and Yoo Jae-suk hosting as MCs, the competition featured awards decided by the judges' scores—bronze, silver, gold and grand prize—along with a friendship award chosen by participants and a pre-vote popularity award. The performer listed as 'special congratulatory performance' on the program order was also unveiled.
When the judging panel was revealed, the person who immediately captured music fans' attention was singer Han Young-ae. Wearing a blue outfit on stage, she said, "This outfit is what I wore when I released 'Is There No One' and held my first concert in Seoul," evoking memories. In addition to Han Young-ae, who overwhelmed the audience with her enduring charisma, conductor Kim Moon-jung, singer Byun Jin-seop, director Jang Hang-jun and PD Nam Tae-jung joined as judges.
The first stage was Yoon Do-hyun's 'The One I Met by Chance', followed by Solar's 'Beautiful Rivers and Mountains.' The two, who showed explosive vocal power, shared an amusing incident in interviews offstage. When Haha asked, "Isn't Yoon Do-hyun your school professor?" Yoon Do-hyun protested, "I've never been a professor." Solar added, "We talked in the waiting room for a long time, and he wasn't a professor," bringing the incident to a close.
Yoon Do-hyun said he was embarrassed, "Even the elders in my family called asking, 'When were you a professor?'" Solar added, "I wanted to avoid being before or after someone, but I didn't expect Yoon Do-hyun senior to be before me. Everything went wrong," adding to the laughter.
Next, Jung Sung-hwa sang 'Recollection,' and IVE's Liz performed 'Wind, Please Stop.' Liz left a calm remark: "I was lonely being alone, but I used my idol experience to stand on stage." Director Jang Hang-jun, with an outrageous judging comment, said, "Countless girlfriends from that time came to mind," drawing laughter. WOODZ decorated the stage with 'Last Concert,' and Hadongkyun, who drew attention in the preliminaries by singing Han Young-ae's 'Is There No One,' continued his connection with the judges by passionately performing 'Someone's Dream.'
In particular, the 36-year reunion between MC Kim Hee-ae and participant Park Young-kyu drew attention. The two previously worked together in the 1989 drama 'I Will Forget Tomorrow.' Kim Hee-ae introduced him, saying, "I don't remember well, but I look forward to today's stage," and after Park Young-kyu performed 'We,' he took her hand and said, "I met Kim Hee-ae again after 30 years." Park Young-kyu poured out an overly emotional remark, "She was the first woman I loved in my life. Meeting such a great actress then is how I've made a living until now," and was eventually escorted off the stage, causing laughter.
On the congratulatory stage that day, the original artist Byun Jin-seop made a surprise appearance and sang 'To a Lady,' bringing a brilliant close to part one.
