Broadcaster Park Ji-yoon confessed she almost bought the rights to "Crime Scene."
On the 28th, a new video titled "The original friends return for hungry Crime Scene fans" was released on the YouTube channel "Netflix Korea."
That day Yoo Byung-jae asked Park Ji-yoon, "Did you even try to buy the rights to 'Crime Scene'?", and Park Ji-yoon opened up, "But 'Crime Scene' fans will all understand. We made the program in the early 2010s, and there was a gap of a full seven years between season 3 and season 4."
Park Ji-yoon confessed, "Because the broadcaster wouldn't make the next season. During Chuseok or Lunar New Year fans would gather and watch livestreams while chatting, and that was the only consolation."
Kim Ji-hoon also said, "Really, during the Chuseok holiday more than 10,000 people watch the live stream. I've seen it too."
Park Ji-yoon said, "But they weren't making it at all. So I thought I should step in, do some crowdfunding to raise production costs, buy the rights. Isn't that something we should do?" and laughed, "Because personally it was the show of my life, so I wanted more people to enjoy it. It couldn't happen, so I had that thought. I'm so grateful Netflix did it."
Kim Ji-hoon chimed in, "For Netflix this is basically zero. They should at least have a contract up to 10."
